Freedom
Fest is our largest annual
fundraiser, offering a weekend of
festivities to raise money for the
animals in our care. Hosted by a
picturesque horse farm, the event
features the talents of artists,
culinary experts, and interior and
garden designers. Thanks to the
generosity of everyone involved,
90% of the funds raised go
directly to the animals.
The
festivities began on Friday, June
20 at the Headley-Whitney Museum,
host of our Sneak Preview Party
for the Scenes
of Gainsborough: Act II Art
Auction, a rare
collection of exclusive,
original artwork portraying scenes
on Darley's Gainsborough Farm,
created by area artists and
photographers. (see
artwork)
Friday's
Bone Appetit Day, July 18,
began with a catered breakfast and
lecture featuring celebrity
speaker Vern Yip. Lunch followed
with sample signature dishes from
area restaurants and caterers. The
elegant designer dining stalls and
decorated tables were available
for viewing. Guests enjoyed a
guided tour of the breathtaking
farm and placed bids on unique
auction items, including Scenes
of Gainsborough: Act II,
original artwork from some of our
region's finest artists.
On
Saturday, the stallion barns were
transformed into elegant designer
dining rooms for our sponsors and
guests. General seating and
reserved tables were available
under the tent where the Live
Auction and dancing took place. We
had live and silent auctions,
guided farm tours, as well as
dinner, live music and dancing. |
